Monotype
In her monotypes M. o. M. – short for Micro or Macro – and in the new series of works Sternenstaub, Lena Feldmann explores the ambivalence of scales and perspectives. The round center of the image reveals a complex network of folded, almost crystalline structures in deep night blue. The delicate shadings, folds, and light contrasts are reminiscent of microscopic cell structures as well as geological formations or distant celestial bodies. This very indeterminacy is central to the work: it evokes the question of whether we are immersing ourselves in a microscopic world or observing a cosmic space.
Feldmann's fascination with structures that appear universal and evade any clear categorization becomes formally and substantively tangible here. The monotype, as a unique impression without repeatability, reinforces this sense of a fleeting, singular moment. This creates an pictorial space that moves between scientific observation and aesthetic imagination – open to individual associations and at the same time precise in its formal execution. M. o. M. is a quiet plea for marveling at the world – no matter from which perspective we view it.
